E este ano, 20 anos depois, sentimos o efeito forte desta fake news, no Brasil, com prorrogações constantes da vacinação de sarampo e poliomielite para poder atingir a meta.

Por que alguém compartilha aquele post que juntar tampinhas ajuda alguém a receber uma cadeira de rodas? É só dar um Google e você descobre que não há nenhuma verdade sobre essa e várias mensagens muito parecidas com essa. Mas desmentir alguns tipos de notícia é uma operação enxugar gelo. Veja mais neste link da BBC sobre a dificuldade de apresentar fatos que a seus olhos são contundentes contra notícias falsas. É quase que inacreditável como a credibilidade está a favor da fake news e contra você.
O documentarista Leo Brant diz que precisamos ter uma Educação Crítica para entender como se produz notícia no mundo.
Não vamos resolver esse problema com lógica. Einstein nos diz que a “Lógica nos leva do ponto A ao ponto B. A imaginação nos levará a todos os lugares”. Outra dica do Einstein para este problema é que “Não podemos resolver um problema com a mesma mentalidade que criou o problema”.
Exemplo: Outro dia, respondi a um professor muito ativo na internet que a notícia do post dele era fake news e que como professor não poderia ser um veículo da falsidade. Deveria estar do lado do combate, dos fatos, das provas. Ele nunca me respondeu, nem se retratou. Este é um outro ponto – a retratação -também é abordado em vários artigos sobre fake news. Mesmo a quando a pessoa reconhece que ajudou a viralizar uma fake news ela não se retrata. Mas não há do que se envergonhar. Num mundo conectado, todos iremos um dia ou outro (ou pior, em muitos) espalhar uma fake news. Ou, produzir o que alguns chamam de “erros honestos” e que nada tem a ver com fake news. De qualquer forma, nesta nova era de problemas complexos, é bom estarmos todos preparados.

Porque atacar um problema desta complexidade no tête-à-tête é operação de enxugar gelo. Inócua.
Há algum exemplo de fake news que possa trazer benefícios? No Podcast Figments of the Brain, eles citam esse curioso fato. Foi espalhado, na Índia, que haveria um Festival de Estupro. A notícia correu e angariou muito dinheiro para prevenir e apoiar as mulheres em situação de risco.
E será que é justamente porque temos liberdade de imprensa, que temos a liberdade de ter fake news? Mas as fake news também não florescem em ambientes com controle absoluto do governo sobre as comunicações?
