Batizei minha nova série de vídeos de ‘Estrelas do Futuro e Além’. É baseada no filme ‘Estrelas Além do Tempo’, história verdadeira de 1961.
Por que esse filme é importante para o atual mercado de trabalho? Por que tem importância para o futuro?
Porque a semelhança entre aquela época e a era que estamos vivendo é incrível.
A visão de hoje não é mais chegar à Lua. Agora, queremos povoar Marte! Chegar aos 7 novos planetas que a NASA descobriu.
Taraji Henson interpreta Katherine Johnson, o gênio matemático da NASA.
Mas as suscitações, provocações, afrontas, desafios, irritações, apreensões, inquietações, nervosismos, hesitações, vacilações, dúvidas e toda a ansiedade gerada são as mesmas.
Por que? Porque tanto quanto a humanidade dos anos 1960, estamos vivendo na fronteira de uma nova era.
As fronteiras tem em comum sonhos que deixam de ser impossíveis, e se transformam em sonhos “quase” possíveis. Esse “super poder” de realizar sonhos é uma energia rara, que acontece em situações limite, como quando a humanidade está de mudança para uma Nova Era.
De um lado, essa energia nos excita a ir ao encontro do impossível. De outro, nos amedronta, nos paralisa, faz com que nos agarremos a velhos e ineficazes preconceitos e ao conforto de nossas velhas certezas.

Para quem ainda não assistiu, o filme conta a história verdadeira de uma equipe mulheres negras, matemáticas, que desempenharam um papel vital na NASA, naquela corrida dos EUA contra a Rússia, para mandar um homem para o espaço. “Que lições aprendi do filme ‘Estrelas Além do Tempo’?” Essa é a pergunta final de um artigo da Forbes que traduzi livremente, escrito por Paolo Gaudiano and Ellen Hunt e que você pode ler aqui no meu blog. Os autores descrevem 9 lições sobre diversidade e inclusão no mercado de trabalho.
Quando terminei a tradução, senti que queria mais. Para mim, o filme trouxe aprendizados diferentes dos que o artigo tratava. E resolvi compartilhar as minhas reflexões e impressões.
Num impulso, sentei e comecei a traduzir loucamente os diálogos que mais impacto haviam me causado. E decidi: vou gravar um vídeo. Bem, o roteiro começou a ficar longo demais e me encorajou a criar esta série de 3 vídeos, que traz o debate, bem ali, junto a cada um dos diálogos originais que me impressionaram. Espero que a série agrade igualmente àqueles que já assistiram ao filme e aos que ficarem curiosos por chegarem ao cinema, ou ao streaming.

Apesar de se passar nos anos 1960, o filme trata de 3 problemas que o mercado de trabalho não resolveu até hoje: Visão de Futuro e Liderança, Igualdade de Oportunidades, e do que eu chamo Cair na Real.
Na série, falo de 5 personagens:
Al Harrison, o líder: interpretado por Kevin Costner. Ele é o cara que não exerce o poder pelo poder, ele quer colocar um homem no espaço e sabe que tem que valorizar talentos e ignorar a negatividade.

Mary Jackson, a engenheira, com a Janelle Monae, primeira engenheira aeronáutica afro-americana, lutou para projetar mulheres de todas as cores. Katherine Johnson, estrelado por Taraji Henson: o gênio matemático por trás dos cálculos da Apollo II e o Space Shuttle. E Dorothy Vaughan, interpretado pela candidata ao Oscar de melhor atriz Octavia Spencer, o gênio da IBM, e primeira supervisora afro-americana na NASA, uma de suas mentes mais brilhantes.
Mary Jackson, a primeira engenheira aeronáutica afro-americana. Katherine Johnson, o gênio matemático e Dorothy Vaughan, primeira supervisora afro-americana na NASA, o gênio da IBM.
Neste 1º vídeo falo de Liderança e Visão de Futuro. O protagonista é Kevin Costner, de quem sou fã e tiete.
Poucos dias antes de assistir ao filme, recordei essa historinha sobre a visão da NASA, no início dos anos 1960, com uma jovem empreendedora digital, Bartira Pontes.
Observei que muitos bons profissionais e grandes empresas ainda se confundem com os conceitos de visão, missão, objetivos e metas.
O resultado dessa ignorância é a deficiência tomando o lugar da eficiência. São aquelas visões quilométricas, chatas e com palavras que nunca ninguém fala no dia-a-dia. Palavras impossíveis de serem lembradas e repetidas. Frases vazias, em geral um copy & paste de uma multinacional para outra. O prejuízo é claro. O preço é o desengajamento.
A visão da NASA era “co-lo-car um ho-mem no es-pa-ço”. Todo mundo pode entender e ecoar essa visão.
Quando era sócia da agência TBWA, conheci a história da visita do presidente dos Estados Unidos John Kennedy à NASA. Ao se apresentar para um faxineiro que limpava o chão, Kennedy lhe perguntou o que fazia ali na NASA. “Bem, Sr. Presidente, eu estou ajudando a colocar um homem na lua” (I’m helping put a man on the moon).
E não é que logo no começo do filme, a gente assiste ao diálogo entre Kevin Costner – diretor da Força Tarefa Espacial -, que vamos chamar aqui de LÍDER e Jim Parsons – engenheiro chefe do programa -, que vamos chamar de CUZÃO.
Líder: Você sabe o que a gente está fazendo aqui?
Cuzão: Tentando colocar um homem no espaço, senhor.
Líder: Exato. Então, pega esse seu trabalho e joga no lixo. Não é um insulto a seu trabalho. É só que ele está … obsoleto. Isso é pra você ver como as coisas andam rápido por aqui.
Não parece um diálogo de hoje? Quando a visão é fácil de ser entendida, repetida e ecoada, ela é compreendida pelo outro, por todos. A visão clara mostra no que devemos focar e isso nos impulsiona em direção ao futuro.
Mais um diálogo:
Líder: Nós estamos colocando um homem, num míssil e disparando ele no espaço. E isso nunca foi feito antes. E porque nunca foi feito antes … O que estou pedindo pra você fazer … o que estou pedindo para cada um de vocês, para todos os meus gênios, é olhar além dos números, olhar ao redor deles, através deles. É procurar por respostas que nós nem sabemos as perguntas, por matemática que ainda não existe. Porque sem isso, nós não vamos a lugar algum. Nós ficaremos aqui, na Terra. Nós não voaremos para o espaço. Não circularemos a Terra. E com toda a certeza não tocaremos a Lua. E em minha mente, eu já estou lá. Você está?
Não há como não trazer à tona a pergunta: você sabe qual é a diferença entre o líder e o chefe? O líder te coloca no eixo da visão. O chefe só quer estragar o teu dia.
Minha crença é que não temos mais tempo para vaidades de pequenos ou grandes poderes. Na nova era, no mundo complexo em que vivemos, mandar não faz sentido. Engajar sim. E engajar clama por liderança e visão. Vamos engajar as pessoas em torno de que? É por isso que quadros de visões equivocadas pendurados na recepção de empresas fazem cada vez menos sentido. Ou você nunca tomou um chá de cadeira numa dessas recepções e ficou ouvindo o que o boy – que está todo o santo dia nessas salas – tem a falar sobre aquelas palavronas estampadas na parede?
“Dizem que respeitam a todos, mas sempre me deixam aqui esperando por horas!” Quem nunca ouviu algum tipo de antagonismo?
E para encerrar, uma citação de um dos atores que mais gosto no momento, Jim Parsons, o Sheldon da série de TV, The Big Bang Theory e a quem chamei de “Cuzão”, nesta minha série.
A exploração espacial foi um acontecimento muito importante para a humanidade. Você tem a questão dos direitos civis, representado na forma como os Afro- Americanos estavam sendo tratados. Você tem o problema da equiparação de gêneros representado na forma como as mulheres são tratadas. É um triângulo de 3 coisas vitais, e coisas vitais que ainda estão entre nós hoje enquanto uma sociedade.
Como eu digo neste primeiro vídeo: “Passados 55 anos, e uma abundância tecnológica inimaginável, ainda não resolvemos a equiparação entre os gêneros e os diversos, nem os direitos civis e nem as relações raciais. Nem no Brasil, nem no mundo.
No próximo post apresentarei o 2º vídeo: Futuro Chegou: Caia na Real. Discussão relevante, porque enquanto nos lamentamos e reclamamos da vida, nem a vida, nem o trabalho andam pra frente. Precisamos mudar as perguntas. Já caiu na real que tudo no mundo agora é temporário? Pois é, o mundo precisa de mais atitudes e menos desculpas.
E o vídeo do último post é sobre o palpitante assunto da Igualdade de Oportunidades, da libertação de padrões opressores, “libertar-se e não acolher quem te oprime”. Vamos falar delas, das mulheres que cruzaram as linhas de gênero, raça e profissão.
